I'm a Mormon.

Funny things kids say...

2/21/10 Jessica constantly invents words, like 'chumped' (see below), and lately she has been using a new word: patcharoon. Used in her sentence: ...smells like a patcharoon (as in smells bad). When I asked her what it means, she just gives me a weird look. Speaking of funny things kids say, my son just interrupted my typing to tell me he's having a hard time finding Santa Claus.

10/29/09 Noah has started including a new favorite line to all his prayers. It usually sounds like this..."please bless us to be healthy, and please bless Joshua to be bossy...and Jessica to be bossy...and Noah to be bossy..."

10/14/09 Here is another funny one that happened about a week ago. I confess, pregnancy and hormones does not always leave me in the best of moods, nor am I full of patience (*sigh*). I heard Jessica let out a long (and I mean LONG) yell. She yelled so long she actually started coughing afterwards. Anyway, during her long yell I run in and I say "What on earth is going on in here!!" Her response, "We were just playing and I was being the mommy." Great...

10/13/09 Joshua is really good at saying thoughtful prayers by himself. He includes all sorts of interesting things and people. Last night's was my all-time favorite! It included, "Thank you so we could not pee our pants today."

10/6/09 Joshua, (again!), says the funniest things! Joshua told me today that one of the girls in his class is his "friend of the heart". When I asked him what that meant, he said that "it means she thinks I'm cool and handsome." I asked him how he knew, and he said "because she smiles at me." So, my four year old son is a heart-throb apparently, and an expert on love!

7/13/09 Joshua went to the bathroom, in a hurry because he wanted 'refreshments' from our family night. He ran out and saw Mom, so he said "I washed my hands" while holding them behind his back. Mom: "Well, let me smell them." Joshua: "No, don't smell them, don't smell them," after which he ran back to the bathroom to wash up for real.

4/11/09 We were going on a walk when Jessica saw a palm tree stump. She asked us," Mom, who chumped that tree?"

3/13/09 Joshua's new thing is to say that everything is "dangerous", and that is his way of avoiding things. Here is an example:
Mom: "Joshua, go put on your pants."
Joshua: "No! I can't! They're dangerous!"
*Pretty much if I tell him to do something, chances are he is going to label it "dangerous". At first, I thought it was absurd...then I realized it was his tactic!

2/19/09
As I was putting Noah back to bed one night after having to stay up with him I found Joshua asleep in Noah's bed. He rolled over, looked at me, adn with intensity and distress in his voice said, "I don't want to sleep in my bed, it has too many dreams in it." I guess he has had too many nightmares lately!

2/15/09
I caught Joshua leaving the bathroom without washing his hands with soap.
Mom: "Get back in there and use soap this time."
Joshua: "But Mom, there's soap on the soap!"

1/9/09
Jessica curtly asked me, "Um, Mom, can we have a talk here? The boys are getting into trouble!"

1/7/09 (Joshua has apparently just been arguing with his sister and has chosen to come to me with his complaint)

Joshua:"Mom, Jessica says you're in charge."
Mom: "I am in charge."
Joshua: "No you're not!"
Mom: "Really? Then tell me who is?"
Joshua: "Ummmm...me?"
